Christmas at Callaway slated for Dec. 10; decorators needed

Christmas at Callaway Plantation will be held this year on Friday, December 10, from 4-8 p.m. The Plantation is located five miles west of Washington on Highway 78 across from the Washington-Wilkes Airport.

As is the custom each year, rooms in the Brick House, School House, Grey House, Log Cabin, Dally Cabin, Gilmer House, and Weaving/ Ironing House are decorated by volunteers, featuring the time period of each building.

Decorating will be December 7-9. Jean Ballew and Albert “Buddy” Patterson, chairmen, ask volunteers to sign-up for the rooms and areas they prefer to decorate by calling 706-678-7060 during regular hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. All decorators are invited to stop by to decide upon a room to decorate. Room assignments are given on a first-come-first-served basis.

Signs indicating who or what business decorated the area will be provided for the tour and open house.
