Chamber of Commerce to hold business seminar Thursday at Ag Center

Protection from the financial challenges faced by small businesses will be the topic of a seminar at today’s Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce Small Business Seminar.

Speaker for the seminar, set for Thursday evening, June 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the McGill-Woodruff Ag Center, will be Tommy Jones of Jones, Jones, Davis and Associates of Augusta.

“Tommy has over 30 years of experience in the income tax and estate tax arena,” Chamber President Jenny Reville said. “He has an amazing wealth of knowledge to share and I feel it will be of tremendous interest to our membership and others in the community.”

The Chamber is sponsoring a series of free business seminars that will be of interest to small-business owners, she said. “We are looking at areas that are vital to business survival such as tax changes, marketing, financial trouble shooting, health insurance, and the like. We are trying to provide experts from these areas and give them the opportunity to divulge their expertise on the matters at hand at an informal discussion with a brief question-andanswer session at the end.”

The event is free and open to the public, she said. “We’re offering this free service to the public at this time of economic uncertainty, and to show support for our existing businesses county-wide and possibly offer them some good information that may help them in their business decisions or future plans.”
