Downtown Development Authority gets revitalization training

Members of the Washington Downtown Development Authority recently completed formal DDA Training with Mac Brown (left) of Pearl Associates, with members Debbie Jackson, Ed Franklin, Preston Sanders, Shirley Gunter and Joey Fievet. Designed to help develop a strategy for revitalizing and redeveloping Downtown Washington, the training covered the four basic elements of the MainStreet program: organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring. “The training focused on ways to increase economic activity and sustainability with a view of increasing ‘people traffic’ stopping in Washington and spending time and money Downtown,” MainStreet Director Joe Willis said. “There was also discussion of maintaining and promoting the things that Washington is famous for historically, while bringing diversity and new ideas to the city.” Members of the Washington Downtown Development Authority recently completed formal DDA Training with Mac Brown (left) of Pearl Associates, with members Debbie Jackson, Ed Franklin, Preston Sanders, Shirley Gunter and Joey Fievet.
