Dr. Stan Coe will direct five performances of “A Christmas Carol” at the Bolton Lunceford Playhouse in December. Performances are set for December 2-3 and 9-10, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee on Saturday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m.

Transforming Life Ministries will have its Advent service Monday, December 12, 7 p.m., at the Church of the Mediator, 214 East Robert Toombs Avenue. Rev. Daravious Cullars of the First Baptist Church in Lincolnton will be the guest minister.

Space is available in the 7 p.m. Yoga class at the Church of the Mediator's Parish House. The class meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday evenings. Instead of a fee, participants are asked to bring donations for the Stephens House Food Pantry. No experience in yoga is necessary to join the class. Beulah Baptist Church, 6556 Elberton Highway, 79 N., will have a fish fry with all the trimmings on Saturday, December 3, 6 p.m. All proceeds will support community disaster programs. Eat-in or takeout will be available.

Callaway Plantation will have its annual Christmas at Callaway Plantation Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 9-11. Tours on Friday and Saturday will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, December 11, 1-5 p.m. A candlelight tour will be held on Saturday, December 10, 4-8 p.m. Admission is $5 or free with Christmas Tour of Homes ticket.

Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate the anniversary of the pastor, Rev. Dante Smith, Sunday, December 4, 3 p.m. with Rev. Michael Gresham of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church, Tignall, as the speaker. The church deacons, ushers, and choir will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served.

The youth drama team of Mulberry Baptist Church near Tignall will present two dramas titled “The Best Gift” and “Heaven or Hell, the Choice Is Yours” on Saturday, December 10, at 6 p.m.

The Relay for Life Soup and Chili Luncheon will be held Saturday, December 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Woman’s Club. This is a fundraiser for the 2012 Wilkes Relay for Life, American Cancer Society. Anyone interested in volunteering to help should contact Carol Jackson or Margie Burke.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Sunday School will present its annual Christmas program on Sunday, December 18, at 6 p.m.

The Church of the Lord Jesus, 279 Springfield Road, Union Point, will have a musical extravaganza program Friday, December 9, at 7 p.m. Each choir is asked to provide two selections.

Carter's Grove Baptist Church will present a Christmas play, "Jesus, the Light of the World," with a cast of 30 Biblical characters, custom-made decorative costumes, special music, singing and dancing. The program will be Friday, December 16, 7 p.m. The church is located on Highway 22, 6080 Lexington Road, Crawfordville, near the Oglethorpe and Wilkes county lines.

Brinkley’s Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate its missionary anniversary at 4 p.m. on December 4. Shiloh Baptist Church of Warrenton will be in charge of the service.

New Saints CME Church will hold this month’s SNAP meeting Saturday, December 10, at 11 a.m., at the church.

The First Assembly of God in Lincolnton will present “The Path to Christmas” on Sunday, December 4, 5:30-8:30 p.m. and Monday, December 5, 6:30-8:30 p.m. This annual event is an outdoor Christmas experience for the whole family. The Christmas story is presented to guests as they ride through the woods on “sleighs.” Refreshments and mini-concerts will be available in the family life center while waiting to ride. This is a free event. First Assembly is located on the Thomson Highway in Lincolnton.

The Friends of the Mary Willis Library is having a book-signing at the library during the Christmas Tour of Homes on December 10 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The author is Tom Poland, a Southern writer, born in Augusta, a graduate of Lincoln County High School and the University of Georgia.

The annual Wilkes- Lincoln Legislative Breakfast will be held Tuesday, December 6, 8:30 a.m., at the Fitzpatrick Hotel in downtown Washington. State and local legislators and representatives will be present to give information and answer questions. Tickets are $10 each and reservations are requested in advance by calling the Chamber of Commerce or Family Connection in your respective area.

Brinkley's Chapel Baptist Church will have its senior choir anniversary celebration at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 11.

Robert King Jr. will be the speaker at Hilliard Station Baptist Church Sunday, December 18, at 11:45 a.m.

Christ City of Prayer Church will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its pastor, W.H. Rolland, and his wife on Sunday, December 11, at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Dennis Quinn from the First Baptist Church of Lincolnton.
