Homemakers meet to elect new officers and plan activities
The Tignall Homemakers met January 19 at the North Wilkes Library to elect the club’s new officers for 2012 and plan the activities for this new year.
Hostesses for this month’s meeting were Joan Baker, Linda Burns, Sarah Pelot and Marilyn Summerlin.
Instead of the club’s scheduled meeting February 16, club members and guests will attend a quilt exhibition at the Botanical Gardens in Athens. Members will meet at the North Wilkes Library at 10:30 a.m. and go by carpool to Athens. They will have lunch in Athens.
Members present for the January meeting were Celeste Adams, Joan Baker, Judy Boswell, Linda Burns, Billie Carroll, Carol Daniel, Linda Daniel, Louise Harper, Marlene Jackson, Jackie Long, Sarah Pelot, Edna Rhodes, Jessie Shoemaker, Elizabeth Smith, Marilyn Summerlin, Genevieve Thurmond, and Mary Webster.

Tony Burton visited Patsy Epps, Lorene Collins, and Mary Hammond. .Lorene Collins has had visits from Elizabeth Bufford, Bobby Wilson, Jenny Grimes, Tony and Marion Hammond and Nancy Hilley. .We are glad Mrs. Bernice Heater is back from the hospital. We missed her. .Margaret Connor has had visits from Elizabeth Sims, Jean Payne, Vernon Adams, Albert Huyck, Betty Thornton, Peggy Echols, Martha Hall, John Hopkins, and W. C. Bentley. .Mrs. Mildred Tyler and her little dog, Charlie, came by for a visit. We always enjoy her visit and love seeing Charlie. . Gail Wingate has visited her mother, Marion Paul, on several occasions. . Mary Hammond has had visits from Elizabeth Bufford, Nancy Hilley, Bobby Wilson, Tony and Marion Hammond. .Nancy Hilley visited with Mary Alice Rousey. . Patsy Epps has had visits from Linda Aycock, Marion Hammond, and Nancy Hilley. .Mrs. Inez Vinson has had visits from Betty Thornton and Albert Huyck. . Mrs. Elizabeth Young has had visits from Joyce Holloway, Betty Thornton, and Albert Huyck. . Elizabeth Sims visited Willeva Edmonds. .Miriam Greer is in the hospital and we miss her very much. .We enjoy Mrs. Jan Nash coming on Sunday morning and conducting Sunday School. She is such a blessing to us.
