Kindergarteners may register at W-WPS on Mar. 5-9, until 4 p.m.
Washington-Wilkes Primary School will hold Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year Monday- Friday, March 5-9, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day at the school. Any Wilkes County child who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2012, is eligible to attend.
The following items are required for each student, either during registration or before school begins in August:
. Georgia Immunization Certificate
. Georgia Certificate of Ear, Eye, and Dental Examinations
. Birth certificate
. Social Security number
The Wilkes County Health Department will be administering immunizations and screenings for the Hearing, Dental, and Vision Screening Certificate Monday-Wednesday, March 5-7, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The office will be closed from noon-1 p.m. each day. Cost for these immunizations and screenings will be on a sliding scale based on family size and income. Students who qualify for Medicaid or Peachcare are automatically qualified to have their immunizations administered by the Health Department while others will need to see their private physicians for any Georgia Immunization Certificate.
In accordance with Georgia state law, students will not be allowed to begin school without an Immunization Certificate which shows that a student’s shots are complete for school attendance.
The Wilkes County Board of Education is making every effort to inform parents with children in this age group of these educational opportunities. Early registration is appreciated as plans for the 2012-2013 school year are being made.
