Sherrill Vinson Jones
Funeral services for Sherrill Vinson Jones, 71, of Washington, were held Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in the First Baptist Church of Washington with Rev. Kevin Madden and Rev. Brian George officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. She died Saturday, January 28, in Trinity Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Washington, and was the daughter of Inez Strother Vinson and the late Claude Vinson. She was an excellent seamstress and had worked in various local companies in the textile industry. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Washington where she was a member of the Belle Williams Volunteer Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Bobby Jack Jones and was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Vinson.
Survivors in addition to her mother include a son and daughterin law, Keith and Michelle Pate, Washington; a daughter and sonin law, Karen and Tommy West, Crawfordville; a sister, Claudia Pitts, Elberton; and two grandchildren, Courtney and Cohen Pate, Washington.
Pallbearers included Dr. Les Sales, Jeff Franklin, Hugh Keener, Jesse Moore, Rick Cox, and Dr. Randy Clayton. Members of the Belle Williams Volunteer Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
