MARTIN Senior Tiger wrestler David Martin won his 182- lb. weight class championship at the Redskin Rumble held last weekend in Social Circle, and four other Tigers finished high in the standings for the annual event.

In addition to Martin’s first place finish, A.J. Meyers went 2-1 to finish second at 285 pounds; 138-pounder Dennis Hagan also finished second with a 2-1 outing; Demarcus Grant took third in the 145-lb. class with a 4-1 performance; and Will Lawson captured fourth place at 170 pounds going 3-2.

Earlier in the week, the Tigers won a three-way match with AAA Hart County and AAAA Apalachee. W-W handled Apalachee easily enough finishing at 53-24, but with his team behind going into the final match of the dual, Sedarian Tatum rose to the occasion, pinned his opponent, and gave the Tigers the victory at 40-35.

Area Individuals will be held at Social Circle this weekend, February 3-4 and next Saturday, February 11, a select group of Tigers will compete at the sectional tournament.
