SAR makes donation in support of Kettle Creek Battlefield Assoc.
SAR President Don Thomas (center) presented a donation to Kettle Creek Battlefield board members (l-r) Allen Burton, Larry Watson, Thomas Owen, and Lou Ricciuti. The Washington-Wilkes Chapter Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) raised $1700 for the Kettle Creek Battlefield Association (KCBA) during a dinner held on Saturday, February 11.
In attendance were 71 out-of-town guests including national, international, and Georgia representatives of the SAR.
For dinner, guests enjoyed Honey Baked Ham, courtesy of Washington Ford, fried chicken, assorted sides, and a multitude of dessert options from the Kettle Creek Daughters of the American Revolution.
The KCBA was formed in 2011 as a 501, 3c organization devoted to the preservation and development of the Wilkes County Revolutionary War site. During the recent Revolutionary Days celebration, the KCBA membership drive brought over 50 new members to the organization.
