Broun’s voting record earns award from Club for Growth
The Club for Growth has presented U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. with the Defender of Economic Freedom award. Broun was one of 11 U.S. Senators and 34 U.S. Congressmen to receive the award this year.
“With his score of 95 percent, and a lifetime score of 99 percent, Congressman Broun has demonstrated that he is truly a defender of economic freedom,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “The Club for Growth values members of Congress who vote based on principle for pro-growth policies that will restore America. The people of Georgia are lucky to have Dr. Broun fighting for them in Congress.”
The Club for Growth publishes an annual scorecard so club members and the public can monitor the actions and the voting behavior of members of Congress on economic growth issues. The club conducted a comprehensive examination of each lawmaker’s record on pro-growth policies and computed a score on a scale of 0 to 100. Those lawmakers scoring 90 or higher— and who also have a lifetime score of 90 or higher—receive the Defender of Economic Freedom award.
The rating examines legislative actions that affect our immediate pro-economic growth policy goals, including:
. Lower marginal income tax rates,
. Cutting and limiting government spending,
. Death Tax repeal,
. Expanding free trade,
. Legal reform to end abusive lawsuits,
. Replacing the current tax code,
. School choice,
. Regulatory reform and deregulation,
. Reform entitlements to increase economic freedom and ensure that long-term federal spending is financially sustainable, and
. Social Security reform with personal retirement accounts.
