Jessica Wells guest of honor at baby shower held May 26

Jessica Wells was entertained at a baby shower and brunch on Saturday, May 26, at The Rider House on Court Street.

Hostesses for the occasion were Judy Coxwell, Alicia DeWeese, Teresa Eason, India Harris, Debbie Lindsey, Mary Newsome, Sherry Phillips, Rebecca Pollock, Laura Purdy, and Pat Thornton.

In honor of the occasion, Mrs. Wells was presented a corsage of green baby socks accented with a yellow pacifier.

A colorful dinosaur theme was used in decorating. Outside railings to the house held light blue, navy, green, and red balloons. Ferns hung on the porch and flanked the front door. A wreath, brightly wrapped in light blue, navy, green, and red fabric and ribbons decorated the front door. Centering the wreath was the initial “W.” An attached chalkboard sported a dinosaur cutout.

Balloons were also used inside where Mrs. Wells received her guests and opened her gifts.

Guests were invited into the dining room for a bountiful buffet that included breakfast casserole, fresh fruits from a dinosaur-carved melon, cinnamon rolls, mini-sausage and cheese muffins, and cheese grits. Juice and water were also served.

The dining table was covered in teal and overlaid with a zigzag multi-design of colors in bright green, shades of blue, white, and red. A large palm fern centered the table that was also scattered with dinosaurs. The side buffet featured a diaper cake featuring a dinosaur riding a tricycle designed of diapers, along with receiving blankets, burp cloths, bibs, booties, and a “sippy” cup.

The hostesses presented Mrs. Wells a Snug-A-Bunny baby swing, the diaper cake, and wreath.

About 75 guests were invited. Special guests included the prospective maternal grandmother, Paulette Armstrong, and great-grandmother, Dorothy Ward, both of Fairfield, Tex.; prospective paternal grandmother, Vonice Wells of Washington, and great-grandmother, Margaret Johnson of Ludowici. Other out-of-town guests included Lizzie Holmes of Macon.
