Blake Thompson is candidate for Wilkes County Coroner in 2012

l 58 years old and has been the EMS Director of Wilkes County

EMS for 21 years l Has served as the Deputy Coroner for 20 years (16 under Billy

Hopkins and 4 under Jane Echols) l Has 38 years experience in the Emergency Medical Services field l Served as the EMA Director for Elbert County and is the newly appointed EMA Director for Wilkes County l Has held several state, regional and local EMS offices as well as

Homeland Security l Has already been through in depth coroner training, including

CSA skills and crime scene reconstruction as well as blood spatter techniques and interrogation techniques. All this training was completed at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia l Has established good working relationships with the Wilkes

County Sheriff’s Dept., Washington Police Dept., Georgia Crime

Lab and the GBI and believes he has earned their trust and confidence. l He is the current President of the Region VI EMS Directors division, past president of the W-W Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Washington Rotary Club, serves on the Board of the Washington-Wilkes Community Service, member of the

American Heart Association, sub-committee board member of the

Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission, board member of the

Area 1 All Hazard/Homeland Security Division and chairman of the Wilkes/Lincoln County Farm Safety, chairman of the Wilkes

County Child Fatality Review Board and a member of the board of the TJ and Friends Cancer Foundation.
