Driving under the influence leads July roundup of Wilkes Co. arrests

Arrests for property crimes, along with arrests for assaults and driving under the influence of alcohol, led the roundup of July law enforcement action in Wilkes County. These arrest reports are provided by local law enforcement officials, and arrest does not imply guilt. Criminal charges are merely accusations; a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty and convicted.

As a result of a tip from an informant, Wilkes County Sheriff Mark Moore said that deputies served a search warrant on a rented home in the Celeste community and found 17 marijuana plants from two to four feet in height growing on an adjacent property. Deputies arrested Michael Scott Hosey, 45, and charged him with felony manufacturing of marijuana and with possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He is held on $55,000 bond.

Jasmine Jamaul Davis, 23, of Washington, was arrested July 19 by Wilkes deputies and charged with failure to register as a sex offender and held on a probation violation.

Michael Freeman, 29, of Wilkes County, was arrested June 29 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony aggravated child molestation. He was released on $25,000 bond.

Crystal Williams, 28, of Wilkes County, was arrested June 24 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with felony serious injury by vehicle, felony aggravated assault, driving under the influence (DUI) and failure to drive within a single lane. She was released on $22,022 bond.

James Hunter, 57, of Washington, was arrested July 3 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony theft by conversion. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Thomas A. McCarty, 19, of Tignall, was arrested July 7 by Wilkes deputies, charged with burglary and released on $8,000 bond.

Gregory Allen Glenn, 31, of Rayle, was arrested June 27 by Wilkes deputies and charged with cruelty to children (third degree) and with simple battery. He was released on $7,200 bond.

Richard E. Hutson Jr., 27, of Darien, Georgia, was arrested July 14 by Washington police and charged with DUI (marijuana), two counts of DUI-endangerment of a child under 14, possession of marijuana, and with speeding. He was released on $6,732 bond.

Willie R. Walton, 63, of Tignall, was arrested July 7 by Wilkes deputies and charged with DUI, driving while his license is withdrawn, and driving with no insurance. He was held on $5,386 bond.

Jeffrey Cartledge, 48, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 10 by Wilkes deputies and charged with DUI, driving while his license is withdrawn, violation of the open container law, failure to drive within a single lane, and violation of the seat belt law. He was released $4,670 bond.

Michael Shayne McAvoy, 24, of Tignall, was arrested July 4 by Wilkes deputies and charged with simple battery, use of “fighting words” or obscene and vulgar language. He was held on a state probation violation.

Frank Chapman, 51, of Tignall, was arrested June 29 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony theft by taking. He was held on $4,000 bond.

Gregory Harris, 51, of Washington, was arrested June 29 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony theft by taking. He was released on $4,000 bond.

Barry Chapman, 51, of Washington, was arrested June 29 by Wilkes deputies and charged with felony theft by taking. He was held on $4,000 bond.

Avery E. Mathis, 46, of Washington, was arrested June 28 by Washington police, charged with simple battery and held on $3,500 bond.

Shalanda Milton, 27, of Washington, was arrested June 29 by Wilkes deputies, charged with battery, and released on $3,500 bond.

Waddy Luke, 52 of Washington, was arrested July 12 by Wilkes deputies, charged with criminal trespass, and released on $3,500 bond.

John Willie Gartrell, 32, of Washington, was arrested June 16 by Washington police and charged with battery (family violence). He was held on a state probation violation.

Joshia Dooley, 22, of Washington, was arrested July 19 by Wilkes deputies and charged with failure to report an accident or provide assistance, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving too fast for conditions, reckless driving, driving without a license, and failure to drive within a single lane. He was held on a CSRA probation violation

David Otis Fields, 33, of Hull, Georgia, was arrested July 2 by a GSP trooper and charged with DUI, speeding, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, improper passing, driving without a license, failure to drive in a single lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and violation of the seat belt law. He was held for the Hartwell parole office and Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s office.

Angel Arellano, 22, of Washington, was arrested June 30 by Washington police and charged with DUI, violation of the open container law, driving without a license, and failure to drive within a single lane. He was held on $1,847 bond and an immigration detainer.

John C. Dugger, 45, of Columbia, South Carolina, was arrested July 7 by Wilkes deputies and charged with DUI, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and failure to drive within a single lane. He was released on $3,512 bond.

Timothy Scott Kennedy, 27, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 6 by a GSP trooper and charged with DUI, violation of the open container law, and a seat belt violation. He was released on $2,038 bond.

Derrick Sturgis, 31, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 19 by Washington police and charged with DUI and failure to drive within a single lane. He was released on $1,822 bond.

Charles Hardin Freeman, 39, of Lincolnton, was arrested July 3 by a GSP trooper and charged with DUI and violation of the open container law. He was released on $1,994 bond.

Angela Michelle Brown, 33, of Washington, was arrested July 19 by Washington police and charged with DUI and a taillight violation. She was released on $1,522 bond.

Carla Renea Perry, 40, of Rayle, was arrested July 19 by Washington police and charged with driving while her license is withdrawn, and with two counts of violating the child seat restraint law. She was released on $2,013 bond.

Timothy L. Etheredge, 22, of Wilkes County, was arrested July 17 by a GSP trooper and charged with felony obstruction of an officer and with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was held on $10,000 bond.

Tracy Reid Moore, 24, of Lincolnton, was arrested July 17 by a GSP trooper and charged with obstruction of an officer and with false report of a crime. He was released on $6,200 bond.

Trenicia Glenn, 31, of Washington, was arrested June 30 by Washington police, charged with driving while her license is withdrawn, and released on $1,428 bond.

Luis Gullardo, 38, of Bath, South Carolina, was arrested June 25 by Washington police and charged with speeding 26-30 mph over and with driving while his license is withdrawn. He was released on $852 bond.
