Washington police make arrests, seize cocaine, marijuana, and guns

Officers of the Washington Police Department have made several drug arrests recently.

Washington police officer Tom Deverger arrested William Mason IV, 43, of Washington, on Wednesday, August 22, after a traffic stop revealed that Mason was in possession of suspected methamphetamine. Mason was charged with possession of methamphetamine and three traffic violations.

Out on parole after a previous meth conviction sent him to prison, Mason was held for Thomson parole authorities.

Jerry Lonon, 32, of Sylvania, Georgia, and Jared Almarial Herrington, 23, of Washington, were arrested Monday night, August 20, by Officer Scott Cutler and charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and felony possession of a firearm while trying to commit crimes. Lonon was also charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Both are held on bond.

The previous weekend, Joshua Lamar Hubbard, 28, of Athens, was arrested by WPD Sgt. Harry Noble after a traffic stop for speeding. In addition to being charged with speeding 26-30 mph over, Hubbard is charged with felony possession of cocaine with intent and felony possession of opiates. He was released on $35,000 bond.

In another traffic stop on Saturday night, July 28, Officer Tom Deverger made a traffic stop on a driver suspected of being intoxicated. During the stop, officers determined that not only was the driver, W.T. Danner suspected to be under the influence, he was in possession of suspected cocaine and was charged with DUI, felony possession of a controlled substance, and with failure to drive within a single lane. He was held on $25,911 bond.

That same night, Deverger arrested Evelyn Denise Allen, 38, on charges of violating the open container law and of felony possession of cocaine. She was released on $25,000 bond.
