The Wilkes County Board of Education will hold a called meeting at the Wilkes County Board of Education, 313-A North Alexander Avenue, on Thursday, November 1, at 11:30 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to set the official millage rate.

The Wilkes County branch of the NAACP will hold its 31st annual Awareness Banquet on Saturday, November 3, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Third Shiloh Mission Center located at 219 McLendon Drive in Washington. The speaker for the occasion will be LaTosha Johnson. A $10 is requested.

Carter’s Grove Baptist Church invites the public to the dedication of its new Fellowship Hall building in honor of Mrs. Grace Beazley who faithfully taught Sunday School there for over 62 years. The Philomath Church Preservation Association (PCPA) will presents its seventh annual Low-Country Boil on November 10 at the Buckman Barn in Philomath. The public is invited for appetizers from 6:30-7 p.m. followed by the meal. A $25.00 per plate donation is requested.

Pauline Chapel F.B.H. Church will hold a celebration of 12 years for Pastor Kimberly Leverett on Sunday, November 4 at 3 p.m. Rev. Reginals Bowens of Fayetteville, N.C., will be the speaker. The church is located at 340 Alabama Street in Washington. The public is invited.

Tabor Baptist Church will hold revival services October 21-24 beginning with the CrossAnchor Quartet singing at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday followed by the worship service at 11:15 a.m. Evening services Sunday-Wednesday will be held at 7 p.m. with different speakers for each service including Rev. Kenneth Law, Rev. Willis J. White, Rev. Mike Dann, and Rev. Paul Rowe. The public is invited.

Christ City of Prayer Youth Ministries will hold a youth program on Sunday, October 28, at 2:30 p.m. Marian Crew will be the inspirational speaker.

The House of Prayer is open for the month of October for 24 hours a day. If you have any preyer requests, bring them to the House of Prayer at the Tree of Life Worship Center on Brown Road. The congregation of Carter’s Grove Baptist Church at 6080 Lexington Road (Hwy 22), Crawfordville, is pleased to announce a new radio ministry heard weekly on WGUS 93.1 FM. The broadcast will be each Thursday from 7:30- 8:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to listen and be blessed.

The Washington Lions Club will have chicken barbecue plates available for purchase at the Lions Club building on Spring Street on Saturday, October 27, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., eat-in or take-out.

The Washington Optimist Club will sponsor the Historic Washington Hidden Gold Rush and Run on Saturday, November 3. There will be a 5K run/walk for all ages beginning at 8 a.m.

The First United Methodist Church Men will have a barbecue chicken dinner on Saturday, October 20, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Eat-in or carry-out plates are $7 each. Tickets are available at the church office or from any of the church men.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have its annual Family and Friends Day program on November 18, 1012, 2:30 p.m. Rev. Michael Routh of Morton Chapel Baptist Church, Athe,s will be the speaker. Dinner will be served.

Christ City of Prayer, Church of The Lord Jesus Christ of AF, Comfort Ministry for All People, Rogers Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries, The Move of God Church of Rayle, and Tree of Life Worship Center will host a Holy Ghost Camp Meeting at 504 Court Ground Rd., Rayle during the month of October. Two services will be held daily, Monday through Friday, with morning services at 10 a.m. and evening services at 7 p.m. The public is invited.
