Washington Personal Mention

Don and Pat Thomas, presidents of the Washington Wilkes Chapter SAR and Fort James Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, represented their chapters during the weekend of October 7-9th by attending the Battle of Kings Mountain where the nationally-sponsored event was held in honor of the American Patriots, who against all odds beat the British in one of the most decisive battles of the Southern Campaign. At the conclusion of this celebration, the Thomases traveled to Savannah where they attended the Battle of Savannah Celebration and the dedication of markers commemorating Georgia Signers of the Declaration of Independence in events held at Battlefield Memorial Park. l

Jack Myers of Valdosta enjoyed a weekend visit with his sister, Lairee Rodgers, and joined her in attending homecoming at Rehoboth Baptist Church in Metasville on Sunday. l

Weekend guests of Becky and Jerry Stover were Vickie and Tommy Wheelis of Lithonia. Heather and Jimmy Blackmon and son, J.B., of Winder also visited on Saturday. All enjoyed the Mule Day festivities while in Washington. l

Gina Gay, Jack and Jessica, of Lawrenceville and Laura Gay of Buford visited Saturday with Marcia and Jack Delany and attended Mule Day festivities at Callaway Plantation. l

Daniel Newsome of Decatur enjoyed a weekend visit with his family, Mary and Sparky Newsome.
