Beta Club to donate over 1,000 food items

Members of the Washington-Wilkes Middle School Beta Club (l-r) Ford Walker, Kierra Blackburn, Curt Gammon, and Ted Smith were among those who collected 1,043 food items and $158 in cash donations during the week of December 3-11. The food will be donated to God’s Marketplace for distribution during the holiday season. To promote school spirit, the Beta Club sponsored friendly competition between homerooms to see which classes could collect the most food items. The winners were Pam Hall’s homeroom in first place, Holly Ferguson’s homeroom in second, and Nikki Jackson’s homeroom in third place.
