Clara Bell Blackmon-Wilkinson

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Bell Blackmon-Wilkinson, 78, of Washington, were held Sunday, December 7, at Black Rock AME Church in Tignall, with Rev. Patricia D. Wilder officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. She passed away December 3 at Wills Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Blackmon-Wilkinson was born June 16, 1936, in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Ora Bell Blackmon and C.T. Walton and raised by her grandparents, Earl and Eliza Blackmon.

She was united in holy matrimony to Norris Wilkinson on August 23, 1959. She was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and served as president of the Mother Board, church treasurer, and in the choir until her health failed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and her brother, Rev. Lawrence Blackmon.

Mrs. Blackmon-Wilkinson leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Norris Wilkinson of Washington; a daughter Juanita Norman and her husband Charlie of Tignall; brother Clinton Dorsey and his wife Shirley of Athens; sisters-in-law Othello Gartrell of Washington, Carolyn Farmer and Louise McCray of Atlanta, and Rev. Annie Blackmon of Greenville, S.C.; brothers-inlaw Roger Lee Wilkinson, Robert Wilkinson, James Wilkinson, and Alfred Wilkinson, all of Washington; aunt Tommie Lue Walton of Tignall; special sister Betty Hulin of Washington; special relatives Darlene, Francine, Will, David, and Grady Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of services.
