Thomas Andrew Brown

Thomas Andrew Brown, 84, known as “Tommy Brown,” of Atlanta, entered into rest Saturday, March 12, at Halcyon Hospice.

He performed with his first band, The Maroon Notes, at the Royal Peacock, the major black entertainment venue in Atlanta. He is remembered primarily for his No. 1 Billboard hit “Weepin’ and Cryin’.” In 2015 he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame with Little Richard and Eric Clapton in Memphis, Tennessee.

The funeral services were conducted at Gregory B. Levett and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Scottdale, Georgia. The family received friends at 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment was held Monday, March 21, at the Georgia National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
