Tiger tennis teams win and lose to Social Circle, rematch set this week; boys will face Riverside

The Washington-Wilkes Tiger tennis teams split with Social Circle last week as the boys cruised over the Redskins 4-1 while the girls came up short by the same margin at 1-4. Both teams lost Rabun County later in the week but individual results were not provided.

For the boys against Social Circle, first singles Ethan Holton beat Lucas Udell 8-1 and second singles Avery Hall beat Ryan Bagley 8-4. Third single Jarius Ferrell suffered the only loss of the match, falling to Garrett Knox 2-8.

In doubles action, Jack Rogers and Two-Cat Williams beat Cade Swann and Andres Davis-Brown 8-1, and second doubles Thomas Burriss and Deandre Harris beat Nathan Anderson and Jeffery Detweiller 8-1.

For the girls, first singles Lyka Mora lost to Maddie Kirk 7-9; second singles Destiny Favors lost to Madison Boles 6-8; and third singles Alyssa Holley lost to Courtney Kitchens 2-8.

First doubles Kareema Wingfield and Sharae Reid provided the only win of the outing as they beat Sierra Cassidy and Morgan McQueen 8-2. Second doubles Calley Ryll and Erin McAvoy lost to Shelby Brown Lee and Allie Knox 3-8.

However, in alternates action, there were a couple of bright spots as Elexus Campbell beat Hannah Dorminy 8-0 and doubles team Zakia Booker and Laney Thornton beat their opponents 8-1.

This week the teams travel to Social Circle on Tuesday and the boys will travel to Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville on Thursday.
