Mount Nebo Baptist Church will celebrate its 145th church anniversary on July 24 at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Johnny Lewis of Greene County.

Gibson Grove Baptist Church will hold its annual homecoming on the first Sunday, August 7 at 11:30 a.m. Dress is casual and an old-fashioned dinner will be served.

The Tignall City Council will meet at City Hall in Tignall on Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m.

There will be no regular meeting of the Washington City Council during the month of July. The Council’s next regular meeting will be held on Monday, August 8, at The Pope Center beginning at 6 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The Washington Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) regular monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, July 19, at 4 p.m. in the City Hall Annex.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July14, at the ¬≠Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 5 p.m.

The Washington Downtown Development Authority will meet on Thursday, July 21, at Farmers State Bank at 8:30 a.m.

Rehoboth Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School Saturday, July 23, from 9 a.m.-noon – “A day of Fun in the Sonshine.”

Booker ’s Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming services on August 7 at 11:30 a.m. The speaker will be Pastor Dante Smith. The public is invited.

Springfield Baptist Church will celebrate its 148th Church Anniversary the second Sunday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Norman Williams, pastor of Springfield, will bring the message. The public is invited.

Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold its annual revival August 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. Speakers will include Rev. Dennis Quinn on Monday, Rev. Joseph Hurley on Tuesday, and Rev. Reginald Hunter on Wednesday. The public is invited.

The Rayle City Council will meet at City Hall on Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m.

Booker ’s Chapel Baptist Church will host “A Powerful Praise, Prayer, and Preaching Revival” with services August 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The speaker will be Pastor Dante Smith. The public is invited.

The Sons of American Legion Post 194 will host the Nashville recording artist Chris Rogers Band (formerly of Washington) from 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m. on July 9 at the post. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. No one under 21 years of age will be admitted.

Vacation Bible School will be held at Tignall Baptist Church July 10-15 from 6-8:30 p.m.

New Ford Baptist Church in the Danburg community will host revival services at 7:30 p.m. Monday Wednesday, July 18-20. Rev. Paul Hull, pastor of Twin Oak and Heard’s Chapel Baptist Churches will preach on Monday; Rev. Lance Pitts, pastor of Gibson Grove Baptist Church will preach on Tuesday; and Rev. Willie Callaway, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Girard, Georgia, will preach on Wednesday.

Wilkes Transit and The Roy L. Burns Senior Center will be closed July 4-8. They will reopen on July 11.

Young’s Chapel Baptist Church will have revival June 27-29. Speakers include Minister Patrick Howell on Monday, Rev. Paul Hull on Tuesday, and Rev. Lance Pitts on Wednesday.
