Support for uniforms appreciated

The W-W Band Boosters are appreciative of the donations being made to help the Tiger Band purchase new uniforms. We began fundraising in July of 2013 and so far have collected a total of $3,800 in donations.

We have also enjoyed the cards of encouragement and letters sharing personal memories of being a part of the Tiger Band. We learned that Mr. Stephen Blackmon played with the band at the “Gone With The Wind” premier in Atlanta in 1939. Mrs. Ruth Rogers shared how “the band was a vital part of my daughter’s life during the 1970s and early 80s.” Mrs. Ramona Newsome King enclosed a photo of her new band uniform in 1964 and told how thrilled she was to get rid of the old worn uniform.

Our band program is steadily growing under the direction of Emme Hines with an expected 67 students attending this year’s band camp. New uniforms show our community’s commitment to music education and pride for our band and school. We are still in need of donations and no amount is too small.

We especially thank the following for their support:

Ed and Joan Geddings

Ramona Newsome King

Jerry and Becky Stover

William and Rachel Pharr

Darren and Janet Pharr

The North Wilkes Steering Committee.
