Mulberry Baptist Church will have a homecoming service on Sunday, August 21, at 11:45 a.m. Revival services will be August 22- 24, at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. Samuel Duggan, pastor of Greater Level Hill Baptist Church. The public is invited.

Twin Oak Baptist Church will celebrate its homecoming on the fourth Sunday, August 28, at 11:30 a.m.

The W-W Airport Commission will host a Chamber After Hours event for the ribbon cutting on the airport’s new west taxiway project on Thursday, September 1, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the airport. In addition to the ribbon cutting, the event will feature airplane rides, a mini air show, food, and a brief program.

The Wilkes County Board of Education will meet at the board office on N. Alexander Avenue on Monday, September 19, at 2 p.m.

A Washington-Wilkes Community Blood Drive will be held in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 18, from 2-6 p.m. The Shepeard Community Blood Center requires a donor card or photo identification.

The City of Washington Downtown Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, at Farmers State Bank on Court Street.

The Washington Little Theater Company will present The Hallelujah Girls on Friday and Saturday, August 19-20, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, August 21, at 2 p.m. at The Playhouse on North Alexander Avenue. Reservations are recommended. Call 706-678- 9582.

The Virtuous Women of Praise will hold a reunion concert on Saturday, September 3, at 4 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church. Admission is free and the doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Special guests will include the Anointed Believers, Jamekia Bolden, and Pastor Patrick and Shantisa Burgess of Athens, Shannon LeCounte of Hinesville, and the Prophets of Augusta. All proceeds will go to group member Vanessa Chapman to aid in her recovery from a stroke.

The Washington City Council will meet on Monday, September 12, at The Pope Center beginning at 6 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Brinkley Chapel Baptist Church will hold its annual fall revival September 5-9, at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The guest speakers are Rev. Timothy Bell, Monday; Rev. Bernard Grant, Tuesday; Rev. Demetrius Porter, Wednesday; Rev. Ricky Lockhart, Thursday; and Rev. David Walker, Friday.

Springfield Baptist Church will celebrate Pastor Norman Williams’ and First Lady Lynette Williams’ 21st anniversary, August 28, at 11:30 a.m.

Springfield Baptist Church revival services will be held on Thursday night after the second, third, and fourth Sundays in September beginning at 7 p.m. each night. Dr. Maurice Watson of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D. C. will be the guest speaker on September 15. Rev. Joe Moore of Holly Springs Baptist Church in Dublin, Georgia will be the guest speaker on September 22. Rev. Lionel Wilson of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia will be the guest speaker on September 29.

Bethlehem Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming on the third Sunday, August 21, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor R.C. Lockhart delivering the message. Dinner will be served after the service. The church will hold revival services Tuesday-Thursday, August 23-25, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Pastor Daccus Turman of Faith Christian Center will deliver the messages. The public is invited.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, at the ¬≠Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Mount Nebo Baptist Church will have revival services August 30-September 1 at 7:30 p.m. The guest speakers will be Rev. Ray Lewis, Rev. Norman Williams, and Rev. Paul Hull.

The Rayle City Council will meet at City Hall on Tuesday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church will have a Building Fund Program on August 28, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dixon of Greater Deliverance Baptist Church in Atlanta. Dinner will be served.
