The fourth annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held at the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation football/track field from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. This free community event will consist of numerous activities for children of all ages including an Easter Egg Drop and Candy Drop by the Washington Fire Department, musical entertainment, games, free food, prizes, and more.

Twin Oak Baptist Church’s annual Women’s Day program will be held Sunday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Audrey Hawkins of Second Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Augusta will be the speaker.

Homecoming for Sandy Cross Baptist Church is scheduled for Sunday, April 23, with speaker and interim pastor Rev. John Austin. Barbecue lunch will follow the worship service. Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. and the worship service follows at 11 a.m.

The annual Juneteenth Celebration at New Springhill Baptist Church will be held June 17 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The public is invited.

The Washington City Council will meet on Monday, May 8, at The Pope Center beginning at 6 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 5:30 p.m.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. New Life Baptist Church will be hosting its eighth annual tent meeting April 17-21. The Washington Affiliate, OLLI@UGA will sponsor “A Day Visit to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit” in Conyers on Monday, April 24, leaving from the Episcopal Parish House at 8 a.m. and returning at 5 p.m. There is no admission cost.
