William Lumpkin Walker Jr.

Funeral services for William Lumpkin Walker Jr., 75, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Rayner officiating. Interment followed at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Tignall, where a U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team performed burial honors. He was born April 8, 1942, and died on the morning of Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Mr. Walker was a Navy man who served on the USS Hector AR7, was a master chef, nurse, realtor, umpire for women’s softball, founder and president of the American Pinochle Association (APA), and was a true Renaissance man.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Beers Walker; two brothers, Don and Jon Walker; three daughters, Tonia Carr, Cheryl Moore, and Virginia Soto; seven grandchildren, Tabatha Harris, Ashley Edwards, Zayne Cranford, Kristen Walker, Marianna Shellingburg, Jessica Soto, and Victoria Soto; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, and Haileigh Harris.

Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
