Wilkes Republicans take part in state convention in Augusta

Several members of the Wilkes County Republican Committee attended the Georgia Republican Party State Convention in Augusta, June 2-3. County Chairman Cindy Russell Bounds, Terry Diggs, and Michele Hamlin gathered with over 1,500 delegates at the Augusta Convention Center.

The convention breakfast keynote speaker was Herman Cain, former Republican Presidential candidate. Other speakers included Georgia Republican constitutional officers, members of Georgia’s Republican Congressional delegation, Republican State Senators, and Republican State Representatives, as well as Georgia’s county and local Republican officials.

John Watson from West Cobb County won the State Chairman’s race, replacing Clarke Countian John Padgett, who retired from the position.
