Traffic on Hwy. 17 to slow down more as wall is removed

Reeves Construction Company’s progress on US 78/State Route 17 widening in McDuffie and Wilkes counties will slow traffic Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

As weather allows, crews will work 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday removing barrier wall northbound from the project’s beginning to end in both counties. Drivers will see a flagging operation and pilot car to navigate the area.

Similar work Thursday will focus around Big Cedar Road in Wilkes County, as crews move and set barrier wall heading one mile south.

This activity signifies stage 1 dirt work completion outside the existing travel way.
