Tiger football season tickets will be available for pickup on The Square this Saturday, July 22, from 10 a.m.-noon and on Thursday, July 27, from 6-8 p.m. upon receipt of full payment. July 27 is the last day for payment/ pick up for seat holders from last year. After that the Tiger Club will begin looking at new seat holders and corporate sponsors to accommodate reserved seating. New Springhill Baptist Church of Philomath will celebrate its annual homecoming and revival beginning on the first Sunday, August 6, 2017. The homecoming service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor R.A. Hunter as messenger. Dinner will be served at the conclusion of the program. On August 7-11, annual revival services will be held at 7 p.m. sharp. Pastor Clarence Moore of the Good Shepard Baptist Church in Augusta Georgia will be the messenger.

The Wilkes County Democratic Party will hold a caucus on Thursday, July 27, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Third Shiloh Avery Center in Washington. All Democrats are invited to attend.

The Wilkes County School System will conduct an on-site review and revision of the FY18 Parent Involvement Plan on Monday, July 31, from 2-5 p.m. at the ­Wilkes County Board of Education office. All parents and interested community members are invited to attend and review and give input into the Comprehensive Needs Assessment.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will celebrate its Family and Friends Day and homecoming on Sunday, July 23, at 11 a.m. with pastor Rev. Charles Belton as the speaker.

Revival services will be held nightly at Black Rock AME Church beginning at 7 p.m. August 15-17. Preachers for the services are Rev. Johnnie Hunter, pastor of the Norwood Circuit AMEC, on Tuesday; Rev. Terrie Patterson, pastor of New Liberty Hill AMEC in Thomson, on Wednesday; and Rev. Jimmy Roberts, pastor of New Saint Mark AME Church of Athens, on Thursday.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, at the ­Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 1 p.m.

New Life Baptist Church will host the southern gospel group The Perrys, who will be performing live on August 13 beginning at 6 p.m. New Life will hold the event at the church located at 808 East Robert Toombs Avenue in Washington. The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. All descendants and connected families of Revolutionary War soldier William Norman are invited to attend the biennial reunion August 4-5 at the Lincoln Center in Lincolnton. Events include a casual get-together on Friday night with registration at 6 p.m. A guided tour of the ancestral cemeteries on Saturday morning leaves the Lincoln Center at 9 a.m. sharp. A Memorial service at Midway UMC at 1:30 p.m. will be held to honor those Norman descendants and spouses who have passed away since the last reunion. Business meeting follows. Victory Baptist Church will hold revival services August 6-9 with evangelist Max Alderman as the guest speaker and The Calvary Quartet providing special music at the Sunday morning services. Three services will be held on Sunday, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. and a barbecue meal will be served following the 11 a.m. homecoming service. Services Monday-Wednesday will be held at 7 p.m.
