New Ford Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 27. Dinner will be served in the church fellowship hall after the morning service. All in the community are invited to attend.

The W-W Tiger Club will hold its season kickoff meeting next Monday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Washngton-Wilkes Comprehensive High School cafeteria. The public is invited. All football parents should attend.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. Call the Wilkes County Health Department at 706-678- 2622 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, at the ­Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 1 p.m.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have its homecoming program on Sunday, August 20, at 11:45 a.m. The guest speaker will be Minister Denise Brightwell from Antioch Baptist Church in Greensboro. Dinner will be served. The public is invited.

In last week’s story on the Wilkes County FFA and 4-H Goat Team, the photo ID of show winners was reversed. Sissy Hammond showed the Grand Champion and Jake Tucker showed the Reserve Grand Champion. The News-Reporter apologized for the error.

Clark’s Station Baptist Church of Tignall will celebrate its homecoming on Sunday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch after the worship service. Rev. Lem Clark from Penfield Christian Home will be the speaker. Revival services will be held Monday-Wednesday, August 14- 16 at 7:30 p.m. Speakers include Preston Sanders on Monday, Rev. Albert Huyck on Tuesday, and Mark Ward on Wednesday.

All descendants and connected families of Revolutionary War soldier William Norman are invited to attend the biennial reunion August 4-5 at the Lincoln Center in Lincolnton. Events include a casual get-together on Friday night with registration at 6 p.m. A guided tour of the ancestral cemeteries on Saturday morning leaves the Lincoln Center at 9 a.m. sharp. A Memorial service at Midway UMC at 1:30 p.m. will be held to honor those Norman descendants and spouses who have passed away since the last reunion. Business meeting follows. Reservations required for the BBQ chicken dinner at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Lincoln Center. Deadline is July 26. Victory Baptist Church will hold revival services August 6-9 with evangelist Max Alderman as the guest speaker and The Calvary Quartet providing special music at the Sunday morning services. Three services will be held on Sunday, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 6 p.m. and a barbecue meal will be served following the 11 a.m. homecoming service. Services Monday-Wednesday will be held at 7 p.m.

A Homecoming Celebration for Black Rock African Methodist Episcopal Church in Tignall will be held Sunday, August 13, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Reginald Hunter, pastor of New Springhill Baptist Church, and his choirs and congregation as special guests.

Revival services will be held nightly at Black Rock AME Church beginning at 7 p.m. August 15-17. Preachers for the services are Rev. Johnnie Hunter, pastor of the Norwood Circuit AMEC, on Tuesday; Rev. Terrie Patterson, pastor of New Liberty Hill AMEC in Thomson, on Wednesday; and Rev. Jimmy Roberts, pastor of New Saint Mark AME Church of Athens, on Thursday.

New Life Baptist Church will host the southern gospel group The Perrys, who will be performing live on August 13 beginning at 6 p.m. New Life will hold the event at the church located at 808 East Robert Toombs Avenue in Washington.
