Washington, Rayle will open qualifying for council elections

Qualifying for three seats on Washington’s City Council and two seats on Rayle’s City Council will be held later this month for the general municipal elections set for Tuesday, November 7.

In Washington, two seats in District One, those currently held by Kimberly Rainey and Marion Tutt Jr., and the District Two seat currently held by Robert “PeeWee” Armour will be open for qualifying beginning Monday-Wednesday, August 21-23, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily.

Fees for qualifying candidates will be $108.

Current terms end December 31, 2017.

In Rayle, qualifying will be held Tuesday-Thursday, August 22-24, from 8:30 a.m.-noon each day. Qualifiers must be at least 21 years of age and a resident of Rayle for at least six months prior to the election. The qualifying fee is $25.
