Milton arrested Monday and charged with felony murder of Frederick Cade

JARVIS MILTON JARVIS MILTON Jarvis Lamont Milton, of Washington, was arrested Monday in connection with the apparent murder of Frederick Deon Cade, 44, also of Washington.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Monday around 1:38 a.m. about a body in the middle of Peachtree Street between Gaines Street and Williams Street, an isolated stretch commonly referred to as “Dead Man’s Curve.” Two citizens happened to be driving along and discovered the body with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as Frederick Deon Cade.

“We responded to the scene and found some evidence there,” Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Thomas Bailey reported. The GBI was called in to assist during the investigation, and also a crime scene technician.

“Initially we had no idea who had done this,” Bailey said. “We just talked with family members and different people. Later in the day we developed several witnesses and after talking with them, together with the evidence at the crime scene, we were able to develop enough information to charge Jarvis Lamont Milton with this.”

Arrest warrants were issued for Milton, 30, around 11 a.m. and Milton was arrested at a location on the Sharon Road by Wilkes County Sheriff’s Deputies at 2:02 p.m. without incident. He was transported to the Wilkes County Jail and charged with felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

“It is still very early and this is very much an ongoing investigation,” Bailey emphasized. “There is still a lot of work to do on the case and it is very possible that other people might have been involved. There may be more charges – we just don’t know at this point.”

Agencies involved with the investigation and capture included the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Georgia Department of Community Services, the Georgia State Patrol Aviation, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

“We appreciate all the help and assistance we can get in these types of cases,” Bailey said.

Cade’s body is in Atlanta for autopsy as Bailey and his team await results.
