Johnny Shedd

Funeral services for Johnny Shedd, 87, of Walker Road in Rayle, Georgia, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the County Line Baptist Church in Rayle with Rev. Jim Newsome and Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday evening, August 8, at his home.

Mr. Shedd was born in Walhalla, South Carolina, but had lived most of his life in Wilkes County. He was the son of the late Jim and Heppie Owens Shedd, and had worked as a mechanic for John Deere, and had also been a truck driver and a cattle farmer. Mr. Shedd was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Kathryn Poss Shedd of the home; three sons, Lynn Shedd (Debbie) of Lexington, Darryl Shedd (Laura) of Rayle, and Rodney Shedd (Betsy) of Rayle; two daughters, Gail S. Stewart (Tim) of Rayle, and Angie S. Williams (Chad) of Lexington; one sister, Margie S. Thurmond of Washington; one brother, Bobby Shedd (Jane) of Hampton, Georgia; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
