First W-WPS 5K Color Run will raise playground funding

The Washington-Wilkes Primary School PTG will host its first-ever Tiger 5K Color Run this Saturday, September 9, in an effort to raise funds for a new playground.

“This is an opportunity for families to enjoy a healthy activity while also raising funds for the school,” PTG President Elizabeth Bohler said. “There will be the 5K route and also a one-mile option for those not interested in the full 5K.”

Participants are welcome to run or walk either route. Sponsorships for the Tiger 5K Color Run are available and more information about sponsorships can be sent to anyone interested by contacting the Washington-Wilkes Primary School office staff.

On the day of the race, registration will start at 7:30 a.m. on The Square and participants will be set to begin at 8:15 a.m. behind the courthouse.

Runners will wind around Washington and will encounter five color stations on the 5K route and at least two color stations on the one-mile option.

Awards will be given to the 5K runners following the completion of the run. The registration fee for adult participants is $15 and $10 for those 10 and under. Registration and payment are due to the Washington Wilkes Primary School office by Friday, September 1.

Contact the Washington Wilkes Primary School office at 706-678- 2633 if you need a registration form faxed or emailed to you.
