New Saints CME Church will hold its first Safety Net Advisory Program (SNAP) meeting for this school year on September 30, at 11 a.m. at Pizza Hut in Washington.

The Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 21, at The Pope Center and travel through downtown Washington ending at Tiger Stadium. Festivities will end with the crowning of the 2017 Homecoming King at the traditional bonfire following the parade.

The Mary Willis Library Board meeting was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma and is rescheduled to meet Tuesday, October 3, at 3 p.m. The Bartram Trail Regional Library Board meeting was also cancelled and will meet Tuesday, October 3, at 4 p.m.

Bethel UMC will host a “Get Provoked” Ladies Retreat on Saturday, September 30, at 10 a.m. with guest speaker Rev. Brenda (Dunn) Vandiver. Doors open at 9 a.m.

The Wilkes County Sunday School Union will celebrate its 42nd anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, at Springfield Baptist Church with guest minister Rev. Charles Belton of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The public is invited.

The Wilkes County Sunday School Union will convene October 27-29, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. H.M. Easley serving as host pastor and Larry Smith as host superintendent. The public is invited.

New Springhill Baptist Church of Philomath will hold its pastor appreciation service for Rev. Dr. Reginald A Hunter on Sunday, October 1, at 2:30 p.m. with guest speaker Pastor James Washington of New Grove Baptist Church. Dinner will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Rehoboth Baptist Church will celebrate its 211th homecoming on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Rev. Donnie Walton will be the speaker for the homecoming service. Immediately after the service a meal will be served in the Christian Life Center.

Revival services will begin Monday evening, October 2, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Walton as speaker each night. Alan Ivey will lead the music. Services will continue through Wednesday, October 4. An ice cream social will follow the Wednesday evening service. Special music is planned for each night of revival.
