JumpStart parents and kids get to see GreenJackets

The Wilkes County JumpStart Program sponsored an incentive trip for parents and children to an Augusta Green- Jackets Game on August 27. This was an opportunity for parent and child together time (PACT) in a different setting. The children were encouraged to reinforce their recognition of numbers and colors. JumpStart is a Wilkes County Community Partnership early intervention program for parents of children from 0-36 months, focusing on home visitation, parent education, using the Parents As Teachers (PAT) curriculum, and parent support and group connections sessions. The City of Washington is a co-funder in this initiative; and Promoting Safe and Stable Families is the primary funder. Attending the GreenJackets game along with the JumpStart children were chaperone Daria Jenkins, Home Parent Educator (HPE) Shakeema Young, HPE Desiree Williams, Telisa Ferguson, Krystal Wylie, Shalonda Milton, HPE Roxeann Cobb, Alexis Walton, and Jazquanna Williams, along with the JumpStart children. For further information, please call Home Parent Educators Roxeann Cobb and Shakeema Young at 706-678-4498 or drop by the Family Resource Center at 600 Lincoln Circle - Washington.
