Senior Wellness Center can help

Kelly Powell (second from right), Director of Out-patient Services for Wills Memorial Hospital, Nancy Williamson (left), Director of the new Senior Wellness Program, and Physical Therapist Jessica Berry visited the Washington Rotary Club and told how senior wellness is a community need that is underserved, especially for those over 65 who are not acutely ill. A healthy portion of local people is in this age group and classified as out-patients. Many are not acutely ill yet they have needs requiring professional assistance if they are to continue functioning and contributing in our community, and many use home health care because they have long term issues. Often their physical well-being is impaired by their aging mental situations. The center offers activities, programs, and therapies to help this segment of Wilkes County’s population. Paula Stevens (right) was program host.
