Millard Perry Benning Jr.

Funeral services for Millard Perry Benning Jr., 82, of Berkshire Drive in Washington were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2007, at Hopkins Funeral Home. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery. He died Saturday, September 16, 2017, at McDuffie/University Hospital in Thomson.

Mr. Benning, known by his friends and acquaintances as Perry, was born in Richmond County, but had lived in Washington for most of his life. He was the son of the late Millard P. Benning and Vivian Potter Benning. He was the husband of Helen Hopkins Benning, and they had been married for 60 years. Perry was a barber and had cut hair in Washington for about 50 years before retiring in 2005. Mr. Benning was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Helen H. Benning of Washington; one daughter, Lisa B. Morrison (Lee), of Martinez; one grandson, Stephen Morrison, and special friends Kelly and Evan Cooper; two sisters, Sarah B. Snyder of Columbus, and Peggy B. Martin of Hamilton; and by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Benning.

Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
