Dorla Dean Adams

A graveside service with military honors for Dorla Dean Adams, 85, was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Chris Townsend officiating. She died with her family by her side on Saturday, September 23, at her residence on Lexington Road.

Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Harry Corbett and Ada Mae Chandler Corbett of Roulette, Pennsylvania. Sergeant Dorla Adams served her country with honor as a medical technician in the United States Army. She was Sunday School Director and taught Sunday School for 30 years at First Baptist Church. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She loved swinging and enjoying nature in her backyard.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Arnold Adams; two daughters, Deanie Busch and husband John, with granddaughter Jessie of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Denise Blaschke of Arnoldsville, Georgia, with grandson, Adam Blaschke Atlanta and granddaughter, Molly Blaschke of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; a brother, Dan Corbett and wife Beverly of Washington; and many other nieces and nephews.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Pierce Barden, Clyde Whittington, Melvin Crawford, and Jerry Compton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sardis Cemetery Trust, in care of Mr. Wesley Echols, 271 Winfrey Rd., Rayle, GA. 30660 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Rees Funeral Home in Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
