Where in the world is The News-Reporter...

... remembering the battle, and the place

Bobby and Vivian Long stopped off at The Alamo with The News-Reporter in San Antonio Texas last week where they also toured the Famous Menger Hotel and Saloon near the Alamo, which was home to many early Texas Rangers in the 1890s. Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders there in the 1890s also. They spent much of their time enjoying the beautiful Riverwalk area and ate at the Guenther House and Mill built in 1851 by a German immigrant family. It was built on the San Antonio River and used the water to run the flour mill. Bobby was attending a USAF Navigator Reunion and spending time with airmen who were in their first flight training class together in 1963 at James Connally AFB in Waco Texas. These Air Force Officers have maintained friendship and stayed in contact with each other for 54 years. This News-Reporter is 974 miles from home.
