Vera Holmes enjoys birthday celebrations with family, friends

Vera Louise Holmes, daughter of Lizzie and Justin Holmes of Cookeville, Tennessee, was two years old on Sunday, October 15, and celebrated with family and friends on several occasions.

An early birthday celebration was held in Vera’s honor on Saturday, September 30, at the home of her grandparents, Mary and Sparky Newsome, in Washington.

A Minnie Mouse theme party was held outdoors where children enjoyed playtime in the bouncy house and also coloring in Minnie Mouse coloring books.

Vera’s Minnie Mouse cake, iced Minnie cookies, berry “bows,” cheese crackers, ice cream, juice, and soft drinks were served atop a white-clothed table with red and white polka dot fabric puddled in the center with a vase of combined red and white roses. Red and white polka dot balloons added to the festivities.

Vera, in her red Minnie Mouse smocked dress, was seated at a white table and chair set, a gift from her grandparents. A large Minnie Mouse helium balloon decorated her chair.

Celebrating with Vera, her mother, brother, Rider, and grandparents were Alexa and Daniel Newsome of Decatur, Molly and Mitchell Esswein of Cumming, Rebecca Barrett and Hannah Grey of Monroe, Leigh Oxendine and Sophie of Abbeville, S.C., Paige Gordon, Mary Charlotte, Graham, and Harry, of Hartwell, Jillian Andrews, Athen and Ali Malena, Alicia DeWeese, Teresa Eason, Vonice Wells, and Jacquelyn Johnson, all of Washington.

Favors included party bags of candy tied to helium balloons.

Vera celebrated on Thursday, October 12, in Cookeville with her parents, brother, and grandfather, Mark Holmes of Oviedo, Florida. They enjoyed dinner and cupcakes at her home.

A celebration on Vera’s birthday began as the family enjoyed her favorite doughnuts for breakfast then a relaxing rainy day at home together.

Vera shared doughnut holes and juice with her classmates at the Tennessee Tech Child Development Lab on Tuesday.
