Primary, elementary school kids need stuff for making ornaments

The City of Washington is planning to put lights on its new tree in the center of The Square and has asked children in the community to create Christmas ornaments for its decoration.

Washington-Wilkes Primary School and Washington-Wilkes Elementary School are coordinating efforts for their students to make ornaments and are asking for items and materials to be donated to help with the project.

Some of the items suggested which would be good are ribbon, pipe cleaners, yarn, play dough, pine cones, clothespins, cookie cutters, popsicle sticks, small plastic plates, bird seed, bottle caps, beads, colored cellophane, old CDs, and glitter.

Anyone who has some of these items or anything that could be used, and that will hold up outside, is asked to drop them off at W-WPS and W-WES between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. through November 10.

For more information, call the Primary School at 706-678-2633 or the Elementary School at 706-678- 2353.
