Six seek seats on city council in Tuesday’s election

TheWashington City Council could potentially see three new members depending on the results of the municipal election next Tuesday, November 7.

Two candidates – incumbent Peewee Armour and challenger Lance Pitts – are seeking a single seat representing the city’s District Two. For District One, four candidates – incumbents Kimberly Rainey and Marion Tutt Jr. and challengers Calvin Wiggs and Nathaniel Cullars – will fill two seats.

Voters in District One are reminded to vote for two as they cast their ballots. Early voting on the first floor of the Wilkes County courthouse continues through this Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, when polls at regular precincts will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
