The Wilkes County Board of Education will meet at the board office on N. Alexander Avenue on Monday, November 13, at 2 p.m.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will celebrate its eighth annual Family and Friends Day program on Sunday, November 19, at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Paul Hull of Heard’s Chapel Baptist Church will be the speaker for the occasion. Dinner will be served.

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet Thursday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at the Mary Willis Library. All retired educators and friends of education are invited to support LWREA.

On Sunday, November 12, at 2 p.m., New Ford Baptist Church will celebrate the 17th anniversary of the pastorate of Rev. James White. Guest preacher for the occasion will be Rev. M.W. Gresham and the choir and members of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church. The community is invited to attend. Dinner will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately after the service.

The “I’d Rather Be In Tignall” Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, November 11, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The next “Let Us Pray Together” prayer service at Trinity Baptist Church is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, at 3 p.m. Prayer is key. “A family that prays together, stays together.”

New Ford Baptist Church and the CSRA Ministerial Alliance will sponsor their annual Veterans Day Worship Service at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, at the Third Shiloh Rev. G.L. Avery Center. The guest Speaker will be Deacon Johnny Bankston, retired Army National Guard Service Member and active leader in the Wilkes County community and Sunday School Union. The United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church will hold a barbecue chicken dinner on Saturday, November 11, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. At $8 per plate proceeds will go to church projects. Eat in or carry out.

The Spirited Speakers Toastmaster Club of Wilkes and Lincoln Counties will meet November 2, 16, 30, December 7, and 21. The New Springhill Baptist Church of Philomath will celebrate its annual Family and Friends Day on the first Sunday, November 5, with Pastor Kevin Daniels of Bethel Baptist Church in Watkinsville as the guest messenger. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. The Washington City Council will meet on Monday, November 13, at The Pope Center beginning at 6 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
