Danger of no faith without Jesus

By REV. FICKLEN GUIN
(Hebrews 12:11-21)

The Word of God says “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” ( verse 11) Through the chasing of Jesus in our lives, we will become the winners when we are cleansed from our sins.

As we grow old in the physical life we need to have peace within our self and with our fellow man. This will be possible if we come to know Jesus to be our Saviour and Lord of our lives. When we have this peace, it will carry us through life and through our old age into Heaven.

We must have a day in our physical life when we have met Jesus and trusted Him to be our Lord and Saviour of our lives. This moment changes everything. We are cleansed of all our sins and we become a child of God’s eternal family when we come to have this faith in Jesus by His Holy Spirit.

God’s Word says, “Lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.” (verses 12 and 13)

Then we are told to “Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” (verses 14 and 15)

Without a spiritual, born again faith in Jesus as our Saviour, we will lose God’s promise to us that we can become a child of God through faith in Jesus as our Saviour from our sins. God says, “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau (of the Old Testament) who sold his birthright for one morsel of bread.

Through Jesus Christ, God’s Son, we are all given a birthright if we will repent of our sins and believe, and accept Jesus to be our Saviour. In our aging process, we will hear God’s spiritual trumpet sounding, and the voice of God’s Holy Spirit calling to us to be a believer in Jesus Christ. We see our spiritual birthright from God in these verses. Let us lay claim by faith.
