SALUTING Our Veterans

Special ceremony will be held on The Square this Friday

At 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, the Washington-Wilkes community will come together for a solemn observance of Veterans Day on The Square. Ministers, veterans, and citizens will offer prayers and remembrances in honor of, and in memory of, the service provided by the servicemen and women of Wilkes County.

Then, on Saturday evening, November 11, at 7 p.m., New Ford Baptist Church and the CSRA Ministerial Alliance will sponsor their annual Veterans Day Worship Service at the Rev. G.L. Avery Third Shiloh Mission Center on McLendon Street. Retired National Guard Service member Johnny Bankston will be the guest speaker. The public is invited to participate.

For their courage, hard work, and dedication to their country, we salute the men and women of our Armed Forces past and present. It is because of their sacrifice that America remains the land of the free, and we thank them for protecting our citizens and our country.

Wishing all of our veterans and soldiers a very happy Veterans Day.
