Christmas Parade of Lights taking entries now for December 9 event

On Saturday evening, December 9, thousands of people will line the streets of Washington to see the fifth annual Christmas Parade of Lights, when scores of entries, including many floats brightly lighted for the season, will start from Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m. and proceed west through downtown and on to The Pope Center.

Last year’s parade featured over 80 entries and delighted spectators all along the nearly two-mile route as the bands, floats, and other entries took 45 minutes to pass the reviewing stand. “We expect this year’s Parade of Lights to be bigger than ever,” organizer Blake Thompson said. “We’ve been working on this since last January, and churches and other organizations have been building their floats for some time now. It’s going to be awesome.”

Entries for the parade will continue to be accepted through December 4 at the EMS office and at the W-W Chamber of Commerce. More information and an application are available below.
