Episcopal Bazaar and Luncheon set, not before 10:30

On December 2, the Episcopal Church of the Mediator will offer the annual Bazaar and Luncheon in the Parish House. The Country Kitchen will open at 10:30 a.m., with lunch following at 11:30.

Organizers ask that customers honor the opening hours. “We are glad,” said one of the ladies, “that people are eager to shop at the Country Kitchen, but we volunteers are not set up before the appointed hour!”

Cakes, pies, cookies, and candies will be there to tempt shoppers, as well as pickles, jellies, and sauces, all homemade. The luncheon will uphold the tradition of this long-running event, serving ham, turkey, dressing, salads, assorted vegetables, and cakes.

The contemporary history of the Bazaar goes back to the 1950s, but evidence suggests that the event is over a hundred years old, beginning in the 1890s, when the Episcopal Church building was on the town square.
