Tiger wrestlers finish third at Crosscreek, will finally come home for match on Tue.

The Washington-Wilkes Tigers wrestling team traveled to Crosscreek High School in Augusta on Saturday, December 9, to compete in a dual tournament. Teams in the tournament were Crosscreek, Augusta Christian, Grovetown, Josey, Lakeside, and Evans.

The Tigers wrestled all six teams and went 4-2 for the day losing only to Evans and Grovetown. In both of those matches, it came down to a single match to determine who would win. The Tigers placed third in the tournament behind Evans and Grovetown.

“I am very pleased how the Tigers are coming along,” Coach Tommy Saggus said. “We are in only our second week of practice. I feel as though we will get stronger as the season progresses.”

Next for the Tigers, the team is travelling to Grovetown Wednesday, December 13, and then will travel this Friday, December 15, to Harris County to participate in a traditional tournament that will span two days.

The Tigers will be home on Tuesday, December 19, at 5 p.m. at the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School gym for their first of only three home matches this year.

“Please come out and support the Tiger wrestlers,” Saggus invited.
