The Victory Baptist Church Bible Institute will begin on Tuesday, January 22, for a course on the Old Testament and will also cover the doctrine of the church (ecclesiology) and last things (eschatology). Sessions will be held each Monday at 7 p.m. The public is welcome and there is no cost.

Springfield Baptist Church of Washington will hold its anniversary service on Sunday, February 11, at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited.

The Annual Doris Booker Black History Program is scheduled for Sunday, February 18, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 306 Baltimore Road in Washington. The speaker will be Rev. Latosha Ramsey of Thomson. There will also be a display of the History of Quilting by Teresa R. Kemp. The Public is invited.

The Bartram Trail Regional Library System will host training sessions for Recorded Books Digital at the Mary Willis Library meeting room on Monday, January 15, from 9-11:30 a.m.; at the Thomson-McDuffie County Library from 1-3 p.m.; and at the Taliaferro County Library on Tuesday, January 16, from 10 a.m.-noon.

New Springhill Baptist Church of Philomath will celebrate its annual Deacons March on the fourth Sunday, January 28 at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Michael Gresham of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church will be the messenger. Dinner will be served at 1:30 pm.

The Father- Daughter and Mother-Son Scholarship Dance is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 7-10 p.m. at The Pope Center. Tickets are $25 per couple and $15 for singles. The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. Call the Wilkes County Health Department at 706-678- 2622 for more information and to schedule an appointment.
