W-WCHS’ latest valedictorian is awarded Booker Scholarship

DESTINY FAVORS DESTINY FAVORS Destiny Favors, a 2017 valedictorian of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School received the Reese J. Booker Scholarship Certificate Award valued at $500.

Destiny is enrolled at the University of Georgia, with a major in Business Finance. She is a member of the Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church where she serves as secretary of the Sunday School. She is the daughter of Erica Favors and Nathaniel Cullars Jr.

“Any student receiving the scholarship certificate is asked not to go on the computer, but is asked to go to the registrar’s office and ask for a letter or statement, written on the university or college’s letterhead, stating that he or she is currently enrolled at the university signed by the registrar’s office,” said Clara Sutton.

“This scholarship certificate with the university information, may be redeemed, Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 10 a.m., at Sutton’s Hair Center, 409 B Lexington Avenue, Washington, Georgia. If the scholarship money is not picked up then; the recipient has until February 17, 2018. If it is not redeemed by then, the money will be returned to the scholarship fund to help other college students,” Sutton said.

If anyone is interested in making a donation to the Reese J. Booker or Rosa Grant Warthen Scholarship fund, or both, make a check payable to the desired scholarship and mail it to Clara Sutton, P.O. Box 261, Washington, GA 30673.
